Farah Namazie

Farah has worked in the field of Intellectual Property & Technology law since her call to the Singapore Bar in 1991. She left private practice to work as in house counsel for Apple Computer Inc. where she worked on a range of technology law issues, including complex software licensing and outsourcing projects. She returned to private practice and in 2001 founded Namazie & Co., where she has since been involved comprehensively in the practice of Intellectual Property & Technology law. She represents and works closely with many international clients to develop and maintain their IPR portfolios, with a particular focus on IP protection and IP transactional work.

A graduate of Oxford University, she obtained a Masters in Intellectual Property & Commercial law from the University of London, and qualified as a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn before returning to Singapore to start a career in Intellectual Property law. Farah has published and lectured on IP & Technology law internationally. She is a member of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), International Trademark Association (INTA), Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys (ASPA), European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA) and the ASEAN IPA and is a registered Patent Agent in Singapore.

Katherine Kan

Katherine Kan is a legal associate with the Firm and advises our clients on trademark protection, copyright enforcement and data protection matters. Her practice includes structuring and advising on commercial transactions that involve intellectual property. Katherine’s practice also includes the drafting and negotiating of various commercial contracts, such as licensing agreements, services agreements, distribution agreements and sponsorship agreements. She has worked with international conglomerates and domestic SMEs from various industries, such as food & beverage, real estate, entertainment, hospitality, education, manufacturing, publishing, fashion, retail and information technology. She has also published several articles on IP and Technology law internationally and domestically.

Katherine graduated from the University of Warwick with a Bachelor’s degree in Law, and has been called to the Singapore Bar. She is currently pursuing a degree in Master of Science in Intellectual Property Management at the National University of Singapore. As a Taiwanese, Katherine is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and is able to conduct business and communicate effectively with our clients in China and Taiwan. Outside of work, Katherine enjoys playing music and travelling. Katherine is also an avid rock climber and scuba diver.

Chong Chee Kiong

Chee Kiong is an Intellectual Property Executive with the firm. He provides legal support for filings, prosecutions and recordals of Intellectual Property matters. This includes comprehensive file management, reviewing and drafting of correspondence, managing and monitoring of Intellectual Property files and deadlines. He is very experienced in the practice of trademark management, often providing valuable advice on the best possible filing strategies as well as innovative ways to overcome complex objections.

Prior to joining Namazie & Co., Chee Kiong was an in-house paralegal for a major consumer electronic company, where he managed their IP portfolio, which included trademark work such as pre-filing searches, prosecution and renewals. He also worked for a leading law firm in Singapore as a Trademark Executive where he developed experience in trademark management and practice internationally.

Chee Kiong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia.
